Noë Takes Novel Philosophical View of Consciousness

Most scientists believe the brain houses our capacity for consciousness. Berkeley philosopher Alva Noë argues in his book, Out of Our Heads: Why You Are Not Your Brain, that consciousness is also a function of the exchange between us and the world with which we interact.

Stress Puts Double Whammy on Reproductive System

UC Berkeley biologists have found what they think is a critical piece of the puzzle about how stress causes sexual dysfunction and infertility. In particular, the new research shows that stress increases brain levels of the reproductive hormone named gonadotropin-inhibitory hormone.
